Are you really the only jet boat on the Sunshine Coast because I have seen other ads about a jet boat?

Yes. This is the ONLY true commercial jet boat on the Sunshine Coast. A jet boat has jet propulsion. If you have any sort form of other propulsion you are not a true jet boat. Outboard engines are not jet propulsion. Just check the type of propulsion other vessels have before booking. Jet propulsion lets jet boats do things other forms of propulsion simply cannot match!

Where does Mooloolaba Jet Boat depart from?

We depart daily from The Wharf Marina for our thrill rides. The Wharf is located next to Sealife Underwater World. Possibly the best marked and easiest to find location on the Sunshine Coast! (See the Map on our contact page)

Are bookings required?

Yes. We can only operate with sufficient passengers and as such need to know in advance if we have sufficient number for a ride to proceed. We would hate for anyone to be waiting for the boat to pull up for nought!

How far in advance do I need to make a booking?

As soon as you have a firm date in mind. We often sell out in the Christmas and Easter Holidays. Weekends can also be very busy. It is best to call and book the maximum number of seats you need as soon as you have a date in mind.

How do I make a booking?

Reservations can be made by calling us at 0402 625 825 or by making a booking online.  If you call to make a booking by phone, please be ready with your contact information, number of participants, along with a Visa card or MasterCard to secure your booking.   When making any booking, be it by phone or online, your credit card will be charged at the time of making the reservation. Initially for the deposit, and subsequently, normally the day prior to the ride itself, for the balance.

What is the cancellation policy?

All individual cancellations, including Gift Certificate Bookings, must be received 7 days or more prior to the departure.  All group booking cancellations, including Gift Certificate Bookings, must be received 14 days or more prior to the departure.

Bookings for groups.

When making group bookings, keep in mind that the credit card holder is in fact guaranteeing the reservation, and will be  will be responsible for full payment for the number of seats reserved.  In the case of fewer people showing up on the day than booked, the total number of people booked at the time of making the booking will be charged to the credit card provided for the payment of the deposit and balance. In the case of “no-Shows” or excessively late arrivals resulting in a missed ride, the full balance will remain applicable and will be charged to the credit card.

Please let us know on the comments section of your reservation who is in your party to assist us in seating your group together.  Further, all parties in your group should check in together to ensure we can seat your group together when boarding.

How long is the trip?

We offer several trips.  Our thrill rides tend to be approximately 1 hour. It’s more about the actual time on the open ocean than the total time. You will have 30 minutes of true extreme open ocean jet-boating. Other trips depend on the destination we are heading to.

Golf Package Trips.

We also offer a golf package trip with Pacific Harbour Golf Club on Bribie Island. This includes the sights and fun on the one and a half hour tour to the Island, Limousine transfers from the Pacific Harbour Marina to the Golf Club, lunch at the Golf club, and 18 holes of golf with a cart.  Accommodation is also an option and return trips are by limousine. This tour may be available during different days and times for groups, based on availability.     Please call Pacific Harbour Golf Club on (07) 3410 4001 for more info.

What if I wish to book the Jet Boat on a time not found on the Booking System?

If your ideal time is not normally available, give us a call on 0402 625 825 and we’ll do our very best to fit something in for you.

Are there any age restrictions for children?

Yes, there are age restrictions as we do not provide lifejackets that fit infants and children.  Our Reccaro racing car seats which have 4 point safety harnesses are not designed for small children or infants.  The key restriction is a minimum height of 120cm. This tends to mean a minimum age of 8 although we can be somewhat flexible on this if the child is of sufficient height.  Keep in mind this can be rather overwhelming for some children and refunds will not be given if we have to return to the dock due to their inability to cope with the ride.

Do I need to wear a lifejacket during the ride?

NO! In actual fact no-one of any age is required to wear the life jackets during the ride with Mooloolaba Jet Boats. We do however provide lifejackets for all passengers. Much like in a plane, the life jackets are within easy reach and instructions will be given about them during the safety briefing before departure.

Is the Jet Boat Ride safe?

Absolutely! Mooloolaba Jet Boats and the staff have many years of experience operating marine businesses on the open ocean. These particular Jet Boats are designed and built in Australia with safety the number 1 priority. We carry safety equipment in the event of an emergency, even though we have never had to use it! Our crew and management staff conduct daily safety checks on the vessels to ensure we maintain our high safety standards. We operate under strict controls via both AMSA and MSQ. If you have any particular concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact one of our staff.

Can Seniors take part in the trip?

The jet boat ride, by its very nature, creates forces that may not be acceptable to some persons. Participants of jet boat thrill rides will be exposed to forces from the jet boat spins, speeds and other intense features that may cause distress or injury to persons with pre-existing health conditions.  Please consider these features in determining suitability for all passengers.  Only guests in good health should participate in a jet boat excursion.  For your safety please consult your physician if you are pregnant, have high blood pressure, motion sickness, heart, neck or back problems, recent surgery or any other medical condition that might be aggravated by the forces of this ride.

I have a bad back, can I still ride?

For medical advice, we recommend you consult your physician before joining us. Passengers with existing conditions do ride with no problems, however the ride can be bumpy, especially towards the front of the boat. Your safety is our top priority. If you ride against our advice you do so at your own risk.

I am pregnant, can I still ride?

Many ladies who are pregnant do ride our boats during all stages of their pregnancy. However, every pregnancy is different so we encourage you to consult your physician. It is not our recommendation and if you ride whilst pregnant you do so at your own risk.

I am in a wheelchair. Can I still take part?

All guests, including those with disabilities or use a wheelchair must be able to transfer into and out of the boat by themselves or with the assistance of a member of their party.

Is there anything else I need to sign after having made a booking?

All passengers are required to sign a participation agreement.  You are welcome to review this waiver to determine if this ride is for you.

I don’t want to sign anything but would still like to do the thrill ride. Is that ok?

NO. All passengers MUST sign the participation agreement / Liability waiver. Refusal to do so will mean we cannot allow you to board the vessel. Our participation agreement / Liability waiver is also a legal maritime document required by AMSA and MSQ for use as passenger verification purposes. You should also be aware that such refusal at that time will not provide you with a means of a refund.

Will I get wet?

NO! Although our tours include spins and other boat manoeuvres that do create waves and spray.  All passengers can expect to remain perfectly dry and comfortable as we are fully enclosed. In particularly wild ocean conditions there might be a small amount of water that remains on the top section of the vessel, which can sometimes cause a small drip when we open them.   Not to the amount it would create damage or any discomfort. More likely “cold sweats” from the thrill and excitement will be a bigger impact!

As the boat is fully enclosed with glass, won’t I get too hot in summer?

NO! Although the doors are indeed closed for the fast manoeuvres once out on the open ocean, we have them both open as we head out of the river. This just adds to the feeling as all eyes along the riverbank do tend to focus on Mooloolaba Jet boat. Just before the doors are closed and locked down, the pilot will turn on the specially designed air-conditioning units which pump air through ducts built into the doors to each seat. Again, much like in a plane you will have a vent you can control yourself as to the amount of cold air you like to have cooling you down.Everything on Mooloolaba Jet Boat is designed to ensure our passengers are totally comfortable, perfectly dry (including from sweat) and entertained. Of course we can’t control the “Cold Sweats” you may have from the thrills and excitement!

Am I allowed to eat, drink or smoke on Mooloolaba Jet Boat?

Unfortunately not, we do not allow any food or drinks on board, and most definitely No Smoking!

Can I reserve the front seat on the boat?

Seating is first come, first serve. Sorry no reserved seating available. Of course if you book the boat for a group we are more than happy to accommodate you in the seat of your preference.

Can we bring a Service dog or Therapy dog on the boat?

For the safety of all passengers, any animal, with the exception of an active service animal for physically impaired individuals, is prohibited. Any animal that does not assist an individual with sight, sound or mobility is not allowed on the vessels. Therapy dogs are not permitted on the vessel. Notification that a service dog will be boarding with you is required upon making your reservation. Please be advised that the boat pilot will perform power thrill manoeuvres and the animal will need to be secured during the manoeuvres. Pet carriers are not permitted as a safety measure. Pets are considered a passenger and payment for such is required. Please understand that given the true extreme nature of this activity we do not recommend any animal is brought aboard for any reason as they may experience extreme anxiety during the experience.

Are there bathrooms on the boat?

No.  We encourage you to “take care of business” before the ride.  The bathrooms at our departure point are open and available for use.

Is there parking available?  What is the charge?

Our passengers can park in the parking lot at the departure point. There is no charge for this parking.

How many people does the boat hold?

Our boat carries up to 12 passengers, plus the pilot of course.

How fast does the boat go?

The boat can go a lot faster than we do for the thrill rides. Much of the tour is at speeds over 30knots.  Much faster than this and many manoeuvres become too dangerous as there is just not enough contact with the water.

I have a boat license, can I drive the boat at all?

NO!

Can I bring a camera?

Many passengers do bring cameras and cell phones. However, keep in mind we cannot be responsible for damage to any electrical equipment.

How do I dress?

However you like. We would recommend comfortable. Keep in mind you will NOT get wet or dirty on our vessel so any clothing is fine.

Will I get seasick?

The ride is more like riding in a roller-coaster than a normal boat in the ocean.  Very rarely do passengers have problems with motion sickness.  If it is a concern, sit in the back of the boat since it is a much smoother ride. There are seasick bags available for each seat just in case.

What’s the weather like?
